Architecture and Autonomous Deep Work Capabilities
Google DeepMind has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, marking the debut of the Gemini 4 model family designed to handle complex, long-running agentic workloads. Operating on a sparse Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) transformer architecture with native multimodal reasoning, Gemini 4 Argon supports context windows up to 1 million tokens and enables extended decode generation up to 1 million output tokens in a single response pass.
Unlike prior models tuned strictly for brief conversational turns, Argon is engineered for autonomous "deep work". The system executes multi-step trajectories across large-scale software engineering, forensic log triage, and enterprise document analysis. Internal deployments across Google engineering teams demonstrated the model's capacity to refactor massive legacy codebases—including separating core Chromium browser logic across millions of lines of code—while increasing agentic code submissions in Google Antigravity by more than 35 per cent and reducing code rollbacks by nearly a third.
Industry Benchmarks and Sector Leadership
Google reports that Gemini 4 Argon achieves top scores across multiple enterprise evaluations, ranking first on the Vals Index—a benchmark weighting real-world tasks across finance, software engineering, tax, and legal domains by GDP contribution. On AutomationBench, Zapier's evaluation for end-to-end business automations, Argon achieved a 51.3 per cent success rate. Additionally, on DeepSWE v1.1, Google's benchmark for complex software development, Argon established a new baseline at 77.9 per cent.
The model's deployment incorporates system boundary safety controls, forcing the agent to pause for human confirmation before executing irreversible production steps or high-risk operational API calls. Beyond internal Google workflows, third-party enterprise platforms, including legal technology provider Harvey and IT management firm ServiceNow, have integrated Argon to automate M&A legal research and autonomous service desk operations.
Global Availability and Tiered API Pricing
Gemini 4 Argon is globally available across Google's enterprise and developer ecosystem, accessible through the Gemini API in AI Studio, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Google Antigravity. Paid consumers on Google AI Pro and Ultra subscription tiers can access Argon directly within the main Gemini workspace.
To drive developer adoption, Google launched Argon with introductory API pricing set at $2.00 per million input tokens and $10.00 per million output tokens, alongside a 95 per cent discount for cached input tokens at $0.10 per million. The competitive pricing structure positions Argon as a cost-efficient reasoning engine for long-running agentic loops and enterprise data pipelines.
